Join the Archives of American Art for our March edition of “Unboxed Lunch” featuring the papers of art critic Robert Hughes.

During this live, virtual event Jacob Proctor, the Archives’ Gilbert and Ann Kinney New York Collector, will explore the papers of art critic Robert Hughes (1938-2012). Born and educated in Australia, Hughes wrote for various Australian and British publications before moving to New York City in 1970 to become art critic for TIME magazine, an influential position he held for more than three decades. Hughes also authored numerous books and television documentaries, including The Shock of the New: Art and the Century of Change (1980) and American Visions: The Epic History of Art in America (1997).
